ECO STP 2025 is the 7th IWA International Conference on Ecotechnologies for Wastewater Treatment, which was held in Stockholm, Sweden between 23 and 26 June 2025.
The objective of the conference was to bring together researchers from different disciplines, technology providers, consulting engineering firms, utilities and other relevant societal actors to jointly discuss and explore the latest findings on processes, methods, and technologies for innovative solutions in a Water-Wise World.
One of the scientific co-chair of the conference was our colleague of the Royal Institute of Technology of Sweden Zeynep Cetecioglu Gurol, who coordinates in SYMBIOREM the activities linked to the development of bioremediation and recovery strategies for marine and freshwater environments.
SYMBIOREM contributions to the conference were provided by the other members of the KTH team involved in SYMBIOREM:
Fengyi Zhu presented “Integrating bioengineering and precipitation approaches for phosphorus recovery from marine sediments”.
Ece Kendir Cakmak`s presentation was titled “Exploring Metal Recovery from Marine Sediments by Bioleaching Coupled Membrane Recovery“.
